The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Therapy for Men

What Do Women Want?

Depending on which decade you grew up in, you're either supposed to be strong and silent or "in touch with your feelings." You were taught that women want to be taken care of. Then got yelled at for opening doors for them (or not opening doors for them). You were taught that if you played by the rules, everything would work out. But the rules keep changing.

No wonder guys are confused!

How Therapy Works for Men

Of course, everyone is unique. The men I work with tend to be very smart, caring guys who:
  • Face frequent criticism/nagging from their wives or girlfriends
  • Have a career that pays the bills, but doesn't have any meaning
  • Can't get over losing an old relationship
  • Feel ready for a lasting relationship but can't seem to make one work
  • Do or say things just to please the boss, the wife or girlfriend
  • Want to be a great dad to their kids, but aren't sure how
  • Want to stop drinking, smoking, or escaping in unhealthy ways
  • Want to learn how to express emotions (including anger) in ways that really get through - without hurting anyone
  • Want a quiet, confidential place to think out loud about making big changes (ending a relationship, quitting work, opening a business...)
We love working with men, and have always had a high percentage of male clients. They appreciate having a caring, non-judgmental place where they can just let go and be themselves. We value really getting to know these amazing men and helping them let go of old "shoulds" and start living with more passion, honesty and clarity.

For a lot of guys, it feels like they have to follow the "rules" or the game will be over (the game being work, relationships). It's such a relief when you discover this isn't true. You can live life on YOUR terms.
